Ephphatha 8 Foundation serves its mission by providing hearing aids to people with moderate to severe hearing loss who could not afford these technologies otherwise.

Many forms of hearing loss are treatable with hearing aids.

• Office procedures for hearing loss

​

1. Conductive hearing loss due to middle ear fluid can be easily treated with office tympanostomy tube placement. Using topical anesthesia, a tiny incision is made in the ear drum, then fluid is gently suctioned and a small ventilation tube is inserted.

​

2. Sudden sensorineural hearing loss is a serious medical problem. This can often be treated using intra-tympanic steroid injections. Using topical anesthesia, a tiny needle is inserted through the ear drum. Steroids medication is injected into the middle ear, diffuses through the round window membrane into the cochlea, and hearing is improved.
